Invites Going Out!

They had been delayed, as I needed to finalize the bill of the bands before anything could be put to paper, but the invites are now printed! First batch hits the USPS on Monday! (They will go out in dribs and drabbles as they are kinda difficult to put together - so be patient out there! You will not be forgotten.)

Invitations

Invites will begin to go out this week. It will take a couple of weeks for them to make it into the post as they are slightly more involved than your usual invititations.

All Change

Okay, here is the deal:

1. The employment situation has improved a little. I've been offered a second class in the fall, AND one in the summer, with the possibility of a third class in the fall. That eases the cash flow difficulties.

2. I still don't have enough money to afford The Spongetones.

3. I do have enough to afford Splitsville.

4. In order to accommodate the schedule of the lads in Splitsville, and to allow more friends to make the party in general, I've moved the party up to Saturday, August 14th.

5. This should work. I hope.

Well.....

...there have been some ups and downs.

1) Found out I'm losing my full time work.
2) Found out I can't afford The Spongetones without said full time work.
3) Found out The Spongetones are incredibly cool people, which only makes not being able to book them more annoying.
4) Found out I may be able to teach a class during the summer, which is good party wise.
5) Found out a few people I would love to attend simply cannot make Labor Day weekend.

Which makes me wonder if I should consider moving the festivities up to a weekend in August.

Any thoughts?

Good News?

I've been working overtime on getting The Spongetones to play the party.

Rumor has it my hard work will pay off!

Keep those party fingers crossed.

Machinations

OK, here is where we stand music wise:

1) I've got a request off to Jamie Hoover of the Spongetones. He was going to "run it by the lads" but I may not hear back until they get back from Japan. (Or maybe I will - but I'm not expecting to hear anything right away.)

2) I've discovered that Webb Wilder does duo acoustic shows for the right price (i.e. $1500 plus air fare/hotel/food - hell I'd throw in beer.) This would be for a Friday night living room show.

Now, since I've no idea what it would take to get the Spongetones ($-wise) if they are up for it, there is no way I can move forward on Mr. Wilder yet...but it is an intriguing possibility.

Spongetones Anyone?

I've got a feeler off to Jamie Hoover of the Spongetones to see what it would take to get these guys out to River Falls. They have been really cool and helped out the Pure Pop Pub with station ID's, so there is some hope. Plus they are simply great.
